There are many simple steps in skincare routines that some of us seem to miss, which can lead to a multitude of problems for the skin. Let's go through some common mistakes we make and how we can fix them.
1. Sleeping with makeup on or not cleaning the skin at night.
This would have to be on the top of the list for one of the most common things I hear. Can you picture a whole day of pollution, makeup, dirt, oil production, sweat all sitting on the skin and going to bed with all this still on the skin surface? GROSS!! What a breeding ground for bacteria, blocked pores, dull skin to fester.
Solution
Cleanse your skin not only once, but twice every single night.
Cleansing twice will give the skin the best possible chance to stay bright and clean and let the night regime be able to do its job correctly. The first cleanse removes only the days build up and makeup, the second cleanse cleans the skin and pores efficiently
Slightly exfoliating foaming cleanser formulated with the power of L-Lactic acid and natural fruit acids to free the skin of embedded dirt and pollutants whilst improving the skin hydration and dryness.
2. Thinking you do not need sunscreen if you work inside.
Another misconception is this. We live in Australia, which has one of the highest incidences of skin cancer in the world. Approximately two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70 according to the Cancer Council. Prevention is key - not only when it comes to skin cancer, but also premature skin ageing.
Do not underestimate the UVA rays (the damaging rays). It can take as little as 5-10 mins for damage to occur. So that 10-minute wait at the bus stop without SPF could lead to premature ageing and skin damage.
Solution
Wear SPF every single day. How easy is that!
The ultimate nourishment for skin in need of support against the ageing and damaging effects of UV exposure. Suitable for all skin types especially those concerned with ageing and pigmentation.
3. I do not need to exfoliate!
Everyone needs to do some exfoliation process to the skin. Your skin type will determine which exfoliation process will work the best for you.
If you do not get rid of that top layer of dead skin build up the surface, then the skin will look dull plus the fact that we have dead skin blocking the pore which leads to congestion breakouts and blackheads. We also want products that we use to be able to penetrate the skin properly and effectively.
Solution
Exfoliate the skin at least two times per week using the appropriate exfoliation process for you.
Achieve brighter, smoother skin every day with this iconic exfoliating powder. Rice-based powder activates upon contact with water, releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes to polish skin to perfection.
4. I have oily skin, so I do not need a moisturiser.
It is essential if you have oily skin that you are still using a hydrating moisturiser. The reasons is while your skin may produce more oil, it often does not have the water/moisture content balance.
Dehydration is a widespread problem for all skin types but particularly for oily skins as we are always trying to dry up the excess oil through harsh products, and this leads to the surface being stripped of water/moisture as well. Keeping the hydration levels balanced will help the oily skin function in a more balanced way.
Solution
Use an oil-free hydrating moisturiser or lotion every morning & night.
Aspect Sheer Hydration is a lightweight oil free noncomedogenic moisturiser that provides facial hydration and improves the overall appearance of skin.
