An expensive product to play "will it, wont it" work!
To give this review context I have aging sensitive skin that is dry on the cheekbones, normal/oily in the t-zone and normal for the rest of the face. I have been using Dermalogica products for over twelve years so when I read the description on Dermalogica's new Phyto Nature E² I thought perfect this sounds like it would cover all the concerns my skin has.
After the first week I noticed no difference, it didn't effect my sensitivity as promised, but my face also didn't feel smoother to the touch.
I have now been using the product for almost two months - when I do my skincare I pre-cleanse, cleanse, use toner, the serum then moisturise every morning and night, its my way of winding down at night and feeling clean after the day had past, in addition when I use serum I rub the left over product into my elbows so its not wasted (I do the same for the moisturiser) and at night when I go to bed i also moisturise my elbows with a sensitive body moisturiser (I have been doing this for years) - when I was doing that I started to notice that my elbows have dry skin patches the size of a twenty cent piece on them, I dismissed it thinking I had been in a lot of air conditioned buildings and that doesn't help but as I started to be more conscience of this I realised that my cheekbones that I have had a problem with dryness are feeling dryer and the serum does not appear to be helping them.
I will state the the t-zone has been okay but the rest of my face feels drier to the point…

Hi K,Cherie,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review.
We’re sorry to hear that the Phyto Nature E² Regenerating Treatment hasn’t been the right fit for your skin, particularly given your long-standing experience with Dermalogica. We truly appreciate the context you’ve provided around your skin type and routine, it’s incredibly helpful.
From what you’ve described, it sounds like your skin may not have responded as expected to this formulation, particularly in terms of hydration and barrier support, which is so important for sensitive and drier areas. While this product is designed to target multiple concerns, some skins, especially those that are more delicate or lipid-dry, may require a more intensive barrier-repair approach rather than a multi-correction treatment.
We also appreciate you noting the changes not only on your face but on areas like your elbows, this kind of awareness is so valuable and clearly shows how in tune you are with your skin.
It’s completely understandable that you’ve returned to your UltraCalming Serum, as this range is specifically designed to support sensitivity and barrier health, which may be more aligned with what your skin is currently needing.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable, particularly for clients with similar skin types considering this product. If you would like to reach out to hello@skinmart.com.au as Dermalogica has a satisfactory guarantee.
Thank you again for your honesty and for sharing your experience so thoroughly.
